Nutritional Bans After Bariatric Surgery

After obesity surgery such as gastric sleeve, there are nutritional restrictions in order to heal the sutures in the stomach and to avoid tolerance problems, especially in the first 3 months. In the period after three months, restrictions vary in order to maintain weight loss and shape nutritional habits correctly.

Not recommended for the first 3 months

  • Legumes (dry beans, chickpeas, lentils, etc.)
  • Acidic fruits (orange, grapefruit, etc.)
  • Raw vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, etc.)
  • Greens – raw (lettuce, arugula, etc.) Salads Olives.

Not recommended for the first 6 months

  • Carbohydrates (bread, rice, pasta, bulgur, bakery products, pies, doughnuts, oats, potatoes, etc.)
  • Alcohol

Totally Forbidden

  • Fried foods (fries, fried chicken, etc.)
  • Acidic drinks (cola, soda, beer, etc.)
  • Desserts (cake, etc.)

The times of adding foods to the lists differ from person to person. You can keep the process under control by consulting your dietitian.
